Short Term Opportunities:

Become a weekly Conversational English Partner We will connect you with an international who wants to improve their English. You set a day and time once a week to meet for fun, friendly, but extremely helpful English practice. Have an international home for Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner. This is one of the top five dreams every international has: Experience American culture from inside an American home. Become a Shopping / Garage Sale Partner Internationals need someone to help them acquire the "essential" house keeping items. They need your help with transportation to buy these "essentials" and the helping hand of a friend who is willing to show them what they need, where to buy it, and how to use it. Short-term Housing Open your home or apartment to a new student to stay with you for a few days. Upon arrival to Austin, new internationals often have no pre-arranged dorm or residence. Christian hospitality for a few days can really serve as a tremendous witness as they see you exhibit the unconditional love of Christ.

Extended Opportunities:

Become a English Roundtable Leader Join our English Roundtables that meet on Friday nights. As a part of English Roundtable Leadership you will help in leading a small group of internationals as they improve their English skills, make friends, and become a part of a community. ( no experience necessary, Training will be provided) (one semester commitment expected) Become a Housing Partner Develop cross-cultural friendship with one or more internationals and arrange to share an apartment or house together. Help them understand American culture, while you learn and understand their culture too. (2 semester commitment required) Help With Proof Reading and Editing Papers Give a few hours per week as students make request to have someone help them with papers and assignments. Many international students just need a native English speaker who can help them to use the correct expressions and communicate effectively in their second language (English).
